Appreciation

The dominant source of books utilized in the preparation of this work were made available through the kindness of the Union Theological Seminary’s Morton Library (Richmond, Virginia) extending loan privileges to outsiders.  Others came from Google Books.  Some of those utilized from this source, very late in the research process, appeared without page numbers and these appear to be e-book editions and are identified as such.  Why anything bordering on the scholarly would be published—in any lengthy form—without page numbers so that others could verify or use it to see what else might be said on the subject—is beyond my comprehension.
